I graduated school just over a week ago now. Obviously it takes time for most people to land a job. I am fortunate enough to have had a couple interviews. But, I still imagine that the process will be a bit long. I am planning on developing a ticketing system for a local pizza place that I used to work at that still writes everything out by hand. I think that this could possibly help out in two ways: firstly it is a project that allows me to learn more and show off what I know, and then secondly it could possibly allow me to make some money. Now, I don’t actually expect to be making any money anytime soon from it, or that much money at all for the matter. But if it something that I am on retainer for, for example, then just getting paid to enginner and develop a software that is a huge boost to my self esteem.
Most of my code thus far has really only been to serve me. Even this website is really only doing what it needs to do to work. I should put more effort into architecting it. But, frankly it’s hard to do when I’m setting things up without much guidance. I don’t know what the best practices are or anything like that. I am learning as I go. So, this software I want to develop is a great opportunity to truly treat this like a production. I usually struggle to put my thoughts down into an actionable plan. But, this will be a good time to actually put my thoughts onto paper - or in this case on a screen.
My next steps are roughly this:
I honestly have no idea if I expect them to be interested. But, what matters most is that this is something that actually solves a real world problem. If it works and works well then I also essentially have a white label product I can bring to other places that may be interested.
I am going to tidy up some of the things here when I can. Then I am going to finish the Dioxus tutorial to learn what I need to. Then, finally I will start crafting what I need to. It should be fun! Until next time.
